Restart a Heart Day

This October, it's time to get hands-on for Restart a Heart. ❤️

Restart a Heart (RSAH) is an annual initiative led by @resuscounciluk which aims to increase the number of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

On 16 October each year, an alliance of partners all over the world come together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and increase the number of people trained in life saving CPR and defibrillation awareness.

They do this by organising and facilitating training events and also by providing opportunities for people to learn CPR digitally in the safety and comfort of their own home.

Find out how you can get involved and learn to safe a life today by visiting: https://www.resus.org.uk/get-involved/restart-heart-day.

Health and Wellness Tips

💪 Let's talk about #health and #wellness that will improve your #wellbeing and make you feel your best.

🏋️‍♀️ Track your #fitness - whether you're working out at the gym or enjoying a relaxing yoga session, tracking your progress can be a gamechanger! Use apps or wearables to monitor your steps, heart rate, and workouts. Seeing those small improvements over time is not only motivating but also helps you stay accountable of your fitness goals.

💊 Take a #multivitamin - even with a balanced diet, sometimes our bodies need an extra boost of nutrients. A high-quality multivitamin can fill in the gaps and support your overall well-being. While it's not a substitute for a good diet, it can be a great addition to your routine.

🏃‍♂️ #exercise - from boosting your mood to increasing your energy levels, the benefits of regular exercise are endless. Find something you love – whether it's dancing, hiking, or lifting weights – and make it a part of your weekly routine. Your body will thank you!

🚰 Drink water regularly - hydration is key. Drink water throughout the day to keep your body functioning at its best. Water helps with digestion, skin health, and even concentration. Keep a reusable water bottle handy and make staying hydrated a habit you can't live without!

🌳 #getoutside - make time to step away from your screen and enjoy the great outdoors! Spending time in #nature can reduce stress, improve mood, and boost creativity. Whether it's a leisurely stroll in the park or a weekend hike, connecting with nature is a fantastic way to relax and recharge.

🏆 Remember, health is a journey, not a destination. Small steps lead to big changes, so celebrate every little victory along the way!

Sun Protection

☀️ Summer is here, and we're all excited to soak up the sun. But let's make sure we're staying safe while enjoying the outdoors.

💡 Here are some top tips for staying safe in the sun:

👓 Sunglasses for UV protection: sunglasses don't just look stylish, they also protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Look for ones that offer both UVA and UVB protection to shield your eyes from potential damage.

🕓 Time it right: the sun's rays are strongest between 11am and 3pm. Try to schedule outdoor activities before or after this window to minimise your exposure to intense sunlight.

👒 Top it off with a hat: a sunhat not only adds a touch of flair to your summer look but it also provides extra protection for your face, neck, and ears. It's a simple yet effective way to stay sun-safe.

🧴Slather on some sunscreen: sunscreen isn't just for the beach – make it a daily habit! Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days. And don't forget to reapply every two hours.

⛅ Seek shade and avoid direct sunlight: when the sun's rays are at their peak, finding shade can be your best defence. Whether it's under a tree or under an umbrella, taking breaks from direct sunlight can significantly reduce your risk of sunburn.

🚰 Hydration is key: as temperatures rise, it's crucial to keep your body hydrated. Carry a reusable water bottle and aim to drink more water throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps regulate your body temperature and supports overall well-being.

😊 Have fun out there!

First Aid Products

🚑 Being prepared for emergencies is crucial, and having a well-stocked first aid kit makes all the difference. Here are some essential items that should be in your first aid kit:

🧊 Ice pack: perfect for soothing bumps, bruises, and pains. Ice packs help reduce swelling and relieve pain when applied to the affected area.

💊 Pills: include a variety of over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers, antihistamines, and antacids. Remember to always read the instructions and consult a healthcare professional if needed.

✂️ Scissors/knife: these tools come in handy for cutting bandages, clothing, or medical tape when providing first aid. Ensure they are sharp and kept in a protective cover.

📏 Tape: medical tape is essential for securing bandages and dressings in place. Opt for hypoallergenic tape that is gentle on the skin.

🧤 Gloves: disposable gloves create a protective barrier between you and the injured person, minimising the risk of infection or contamination. Remember to use them when administering first aid.

🩹 Bandage: a variety of sterile adhesive bandages in different sizes is crucial for covering wounds and preventing infection. Make sure you have an assortment to suit various injuries.

🌡️ Thermometer: an accurate thermometer helps monitor body temperature, allowing you to assess the severity of a fever or monitor overall health. Digital thermometers are easy to use and provide quick results.

😷 Mask: include face masks in your first aid kit to protect against the spread of germs and ensure both your safety and the safety of those around you.

💙 Remember to periodically check your first aid kit for expired items and replenish supplies when necessary. It's also essential to familiarise yourself with basic first aid procedures and seek professional medical help when needed. Stay safe out there!
